Scheduling
There is a minimum enrolment requirement of 14 lessons per semester. Additional lessons can be arranged if so desired. I do my best to stick to a consistent schedule, but my performance and travel schedule occasionally conflict with my private instruction schedule. I may occasionally provide a substitute instructor if I am unavailable for more than a week at a time. A complete calendar for the entire term will be distributed in early October.
Cancellation
If the instructor cancels a lesson due to illness or emergency, the student has the option to reschedule the lesson or forego that lesson for no charge.
The full fee is charged for a missed lesson without 48 hours advance notice of cancellation. This includes instances of conflicting sports games and school trips. If a lesson is missed due to scheduling conflict with other activities, the lesson will be rescheduled and held at my Dunbar studio; otherwise, the fee for that lesson is charged in full.
In the case of illness or family emergency, please email me or call as early as possible to let me know of the absence. If a lesson is missed due to illness or emergency, the lesson will be rescheduled for a later date at my Dunbar studio.
Once a student is scheduled for weekly lessons, the student is expected to attend the entire semester of lessons (14 lessons per semester). Early withdrawal does not grant financial reimbursement.
All make up lessons for the fall term need to be scheduled by December 16th, 2011, and must occur by January 28th, 2012.
Performance Opportunities
Advanced students will be encouraged to collaborate with a pianist. Please note that you will be responsible for the additional fees a pianist may charge (usually starting around $35/hour).
Students will be highly encouraged to participate in a studio recital in late spring! Look out for recital information in early March.
Private or Group Music Theory Instruction:
Music theory study greatly enhances a student's performance and overall musicianship by promoting an understanding of the written and aural structure of music. For the individual, 30 minute theory lessons are available independent of, or in addition to, trumpet lessons. Groups of 3-5 can choose to schedule a 90 minute class at a negotiated rate.
